In a previous post we walked through How to Identify Your Core Values, if you missed that you can check it out here.  Your next step in Uncovering Your Hidden Genius is to create goals that are in alignment with your core values.

Did you know, a “goal is really just a dream with a deadline”.

What’s important in your life?

Each year when I sit down to create my goals for that year, I will look at 8 different areas of my life. These 8 areas or Environments are:

  1. Health & Fitness
  2. Personal Growth
  3. Finances
  4. Spiritual
  5. Business or Career
  6. Contribution to others
  7. Relationship with family
  8. Relationship with friends

If I write a goal that I believe can happen and I write it for each of those 8 environments and they are accomplished, then I have had a great year.

As always, I encourage my clients when first starting on writing goals, to take baby steps. Choose 4 of the most important Environments to set goals to the first year. We do the baby steps to help prevent overwhelm. For some people, 8 new goals might seem just too much this year. It is the ACTION of writing 4 vs. 8 that is the difference of some action vs. NO action.

Life needs to be enjoyed. While you are taking positive steps in your life to create a better life, be kind to yourself.

Do what you can do so you can enjoy the journey.
