Children, like adults, want to succeed!!  A child who is truly struggling in school could be facing a learning disability that makes success difficult.  These learning difficulties also contribute to setting up false beliefs about your child’s abilities to succeed.

A learning disability results from a difference in the way a person’s brain is “wired”.  Children with learning disabilities are as smart or smarter than their peers.  So, mothers relax!!  Your child is smart, you just have to find the key.

What can I do?  How can I help?

On this week’s podcast, Karyn Lutes, shares about this pain in watching and assisting her daughter with homework.  It was “homework hell”!!  You may recognize these delay tactics used such as no focus, jumping up and down, tears, blank stares when asked a questions.  The list is long.

All of these delays soon become a battle each night to get the homework completed.  Many parents give up in frustration.

Learning problems seem to be the norm.  15% of the U.S. population, or 1 in 7 Americans, has some type of learning disability, according to the National Institutes of Health.

As many as 80% of students with learning disabilities have reading problems.

Karyn is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, California Credentialed Teacher, and Executive Director who established Brain Boost Academy 23 years ago.  Her passion is helping children flourish!!

It was through her struggles with her daughters that created the dream for Brain Boost Academy (wwwBrainBoostAcademy.com).

Listen and you will learn what she has to offer to anyone – child or adult – who is struggling with learning disabilities.
